Itâs Sunday Morning. Iâm sitting in this Co-Working Space in Chiang Mai, Thailand. And even though this place is amazing, I freaking hate it here. Anyways, I heard a crazy marketing story that I have to tell you about.
I know a lot of people hate on Tai Lopez. But, whether you love him or hate him, at least we can learn from him.
He did a Podcast Interview with Graham Stephan. On the podcast, he said he grossed about $100 Million from the offer he originally launched with the âHere in my Garageâ video.
That âOrganic Adâ Video has gotten 71 Million views in the last 7 years. Maybe more. I donât know if that video is the original ad or a separate upload.
Hereâs why I say itâs a âOrganicâ Ad:
- It was intentionally designed to look like organic content.
- It was shot with an Iphone.
- The lighting wasnât that good. Most âProfessionalâ Video people probably hate it.
- The Hook doesnât feel like an ad. He starts out the video saying: âHere in my garage. Just bought this uh new lamborghini here. It’s fun to drive up here in the Hollywood Hills.â When was the last time you heard an ad that started like that!?
- He says âuhâ in the video. That would drive the Toastmasters Level Professional Speakers Nuts. âYou canât say âuhâ or âummâ in your ads. Thatâs bad public speaking,â theyâd say.
His first ad promoting this product flopped. He created a âprofessionalâ ad, spent $20,000 promoting it, and only made $1,000 in sales. Thatâs a horrible ROAS – unless you make it up on the backend!
Then, he launched the âHere in my Garageâ Ad, spent about $50,000 on it in one day, and made $130,000 back in direct sales. Thatâs a much better ROAS!
In the Podcast with Graham Stephan, Tai estimated that he made about $100 Million in sales from the 67 Steps Offer that video promotes. Iâm sure he created and tested other ads. But, that one ad was probably the âbread and butterâ of the campaign.
Could he be stretching the truth? Yes. But, either way, that ad was definitely a home run. I know I saw it a dozen or so times when I was watching videos on Youtube. So, clearly it was a winner. So…
What can we learn from this â$100 Millionâ Ad?
Try an âOrganicâAd yourself:
- Donât have the main visual hook look like an ad.
- Use your phone to shoot the video.
- Let the lighting look a little lousy – if needed.
- If youâre creating an image ad, then use an image that doesnât look like an ad.
- Turn down the excitement and hype in your video or ad copy. Iâve found this works best for my ads. I track all of my best converting ads. And none of the top 5, âBest Everâ ads used âhypeyâ copy.
Iâve created dozens of high-converting âControlâ ads using these principles. Make sense?
